THE PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to make a Wi-Fi QR code sign for guests

A printed Wi-Fi sign lets guests join without typing a long password. A few small checks make the sign both useful and easy to live with.

1. Choose the network guests should use

Use a guest network if your router offers one. Check the exact Wi-Fi name, including spaces and capital letters. For a password-protected network, the QR code stores the network name, security type, and password so a phone can offer to join it. Anyone who can scan the printed sign can access those details, so place it where guests can see it and keep private networks separate.

2. Make a sign that fits the room

Enter the network name and password in the editor, then choose a style. HostSigns prepares a 5 × 7 inch sign, an A4 version, and a high resolution PNG. The network details stay in your browser while you create the sign; they are not sent to checkout.

3. Test before you print a batch

Scan the preview with a second phone. Confirm it suggests the intended guest network and that the password works. Print one copy at actual size, then scan it under the lighting where it will be displayed. Keep strong contrast and leave clear space around the QR code.

Common questions

Will it work with an open Wi-Fi network?

Yes. Select “This is an open network” in the editor. Guests will still need to approve joining on their phone.

What if I change the Wi-Fi password?

A printed Wi-Fi QR code contains the password you entered. If it changes, create and print a fresh sign. If you kept your purchase in the same browser or have the checkout return link, you can edit and download the sign again.
